Location
Ust-Luga Multimodal Complex Project is situated in Northwestern Russia on the Eastern shore of Luga Bay of the Gulf of Finland, the Baltic Sea. The project has objective prerequisites for becoming the largest international multimodal industrial & logistics centre in Northwestern Russia because of it unique location near the Russian-Estonian border and because of roads and railroads that are a part of international transport corridors. The industrial & logistics zone is located 500 me ters far from operating Ust-Luga Universal Sea Port.
According to Transport Infrastructure Development Strategy of Russia the priority task is integrated development of transportation hubs, international corridors and multimodal complexes consisting of objects of different transport industries at the territory of the country.
Ust-Luga Multimodal Complex Project is a prime example of modern hub establishment. It will allow using advantage of Russia’s geographical position that is transit potential between world trade centres. The project is also aimed at increase of competitiveness of international transportation corridors passing through Russia.
Ust-Luga Multimodal Complex is a large-scale project aimed at development of the portside area of about 3,000 h ectares located in close vicinity of operating Ust-Luga Sea Port in Kingiseppsky district of Leningrad region.
While making the decision of Ust-Luga Multimodal Complex construction it was considered that the transport and engineering infrastructure of the district had been upgraded and expanded significantly.
Railway approaches to the port were reconstructed and expanded. Old roads, viaducts and bridges were reconstructed, new ones were built. Construction of a new federal road from Veliky Novgorod to Ust-Luga has begun. A new power supply line has been built from Leningrad nuclear power plant to a new high-capacity power substation located at the territory of the Project.
В состав проекта Мультимодальный комплекс «Усть-Луга» входят: грузовой аэропорт; сухой порт; промышленно-логистический комплекс; индустриальные бизнес-парки; авиационные, складской и таможенный терминалы; жилой и рекреационный комплексы. Все эти проекты, совместно с морским портом Усть-Луга, позволят создать на западной границе России крупнейший транспортно-логистический узел (хаб) в стране.
